Hi everyone my name is Shelly and I am so glad you decided to join my sister and I on our journey! Here is a little bit about me.
Fact One: I am striving to Love God and find my identity in Him!
Are you like me and you often wonder why you were created or wonder if you are good enough? I have to remind myself every day that God loves me and even if I mess up He will forgive me time and time again. I think it is harder for us to forgive ourselves, because as soon as we say we are sorry God has forgiven us. Isn't that great? As long as I can remember I have always thought that God was this man with a stick ready to bop me on the head as soon as I did wrong but I know that is not true now and am trying to change how I view Him.
Fact Two: I LOVE to travel!!
Yup that about sums it up I love to travel! If I could travel most of my life I would. There is just something so magical about seeing different cultures and different places God has created. It gives me such a thrill to see God's handy work in real life.
I especially love countries with mountains because I love my mountains! The ocean is cool too but I don't long for it like mountains. They are just so beautiful and rugged!
Also a bonus point on traveling is tasting different food and how other countries cook. There has been many things I have tried in other countries that I wish the US would have because it was just so good.
Fact Three: I love to cook and bake!
You saw I love to cook and that is correct. If I could be in the kitchen all day I would be ( given like anything we do it can be tiring )! I especially like to try and come up with recipes Kaylee can have because due to her auto immune disease she is on a stricter diet. So if you are like Kaylee and have to watch Gluten, Dairy, Sugar, and sometimes Eggs go on over to my food blog and you might find some tasty food recipes. ( https://nutritiouscravings.com/). Also our family is trying to get rid of more toxic things in our house so here is a few things we have switched in our kitchen. We use a lot of cast iron pans (https://amzn.to/45Z9OmD), metal turners (https://amzn.to/3TtIVQi), glass food storage containers (https://amzn.to/464Lzn0), fruit wash (https://amzn.to/4ljLVe9), dish soap (https://amzn.to/4kwbrM0).
The sad thing is food has also been something I have struggled with. For many years I fell into the ditch of Anorexia. It made me limit what I ate and have to plan my whole day out on what I thought I could and couldn't eat. So it really took the joy out of experimenting new recipes. If you want to hear me go into more detail on this you can watch my video on our channel. (https://youtu.be/QeNNNGocF4A?si=aQRrGQ6SiUDYLC10)
Fact Four: I like to dabble with taking pictures.
All the pictures of the food you see on my blog are taken by me. I find it so fun to make food come alive through photos. I am definitely not a professional yet but like they say "practice makes perfect"! I also like to take pictures of scenery when we go traveling and think it would be fun to get good enough and someday sell my photos. Also I have taken pictures of Airbnbs for some people I know and enjoyed that as well.
Fact Five: I love to try to learn new things and do new things.
I find it so rewarding to learn new things and to stretch my brain. I especially like to learn hands on things. Like for example I have learnt how to lay floor, do drywall ( not my first pick for sure!), lay backsplash, do woodturning, and many other things here and there.
Also when it comes to fun activities I like to try new things as well, like paragliding, snowboarding, weight boarding, any new sport, horseback riding, snorkeling, and many other active things I would be willing to try.
I will say there is two categories of things I don't always want to try because I don't love to do and that is crafts (especially in the sewing realm) and board games. There is just something about having patience to sit down and crochet, or play an hour long board game that I just can't do. Maybe it will come some day but I am not holding my breath.
Anyways I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little more and if you would like to see more of my sisters and my life please follow along on our life journey!
