How to Start Living a Non-Toxic Lifestyle (For Christians and Non-Christians Alike)
Simple Steps for a Healthier Life and Home
Have you ever felt the nudge to change the way you live—maybe for your health, your family, or even the environment—but didn’t know where to start? Whether you're a Christian wanting to honor God by stewarding your body well, or simply someone seeking a healthier, more intentional way of life, choosing a non-toxic lifestyle is a powerful step in the right direction.
Here’s the good news: You don’t have to overhaul your life overnight. Small, mindful choices add up over time. Here are practical ways anyone can begin this journey.
1. Understand What “Non-Toxic” Really Means
A non-toxic lifestyle means reducing your exposure to harmful chemicals in everyday products—things like cleaners, skincare, makeup, food, and even your home environment. It’s about choosing safer, cleaner options that support your health rather than harm it.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress.
2. Start With What You Use Every Day
Cleaning Products:
Swap out harsh chemical cleaners for natural alternatives. Look for brands with transparent ingredients or make your own with simple items like vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils. Some of my favorite cleaners that I would use and use, Truly Free (https://amzn.to/41PIpQW), Branch Basics (https://amzn.to/4p13bHF).Laundry Soap, Truly Free (https://amzn.to/4mJthN8), Clean People (https://amzn.to/4fKpEV3), Norwex (https://amzn.to/3HyQT8s)
Personal Care & Beauty:
Your skin absorbs what you put on it. Choose products free of parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, and dyes. Apps like “EWG’s Healthy Living” can help you check product safety. Some of my favorite Items and brands. Bars of soap (https://amzn.to/4oKvVnM), Salt and Stone Underarm, (https://amzn.to/45sTjhW), Dime Perfume (https://amzn.to/4lB8mef), RiseWell Toothpaste, (https://amzn.to/45WTQJ4), Truvani Toothpaste (https://amzn.to/4lwSjxZ),Food Choices:
Buy whole, unprocessed foods when you can. Avoid artificial dyes, preservatives, and processed sugars. If possible, choose organic produce, but we all know that can be expensive, so make sure you always wash your produce. Truly Free fruit wash, (https://amzn.to/3V6MGvF), Renovera fruit wash, (https://amzn.to/4oH8U52).
3. Check Your Home Environment
Air Quality:
Open windows regularly. Consider an air purifier. Air Doc (https://amzn.to/4lH12Oh). Choose non-toxic candles or diffusers (avoid synthetic fragrances).Water:
Check your water to see if you need a filter. Clean water matters more than we realize.
4. Why This Matters for Christians (and Anyone Seeking Purposeful Living)
As Christians, we believe our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Taking care of them is an act of worship and stewardship.
But even if you’re not a Christian, caring for your health and the well-being of your family reflects a heart of responsibility and love. Choosing a non-toxic lifestyle is one way to live intentionally—valuing life, health, and the world we’ve been given.
5. Don’t Get Overwhelmed—Do What You Can
You don’t need a perfect pantry or toxin-free home tomorrow. Maybe today you swap your hand soap, and next month you try a safer laundry detergent. Small changes build momentum.
6. Invite Your Family Into the Journey
Make this a family effort. Teach your kids to read labels. Cook meals together. Celebrate the wins—even the small ones. Living a healthier lifestyle is a gift you give your whole family.
7. Give Yourself Grace
It’s not about fear or guilt. It’s about making better choices with the knowledge you have. Do what you can and leave the rest in God’s hands—or simply focus on doing your best.

Pick one area this week—just one—and make a small swap.
You’ll be amazed how those tiny decisions start to change your health, your mindset, and even your home’s atmosphere.
If you'd like, I can help you list some starter product swaps. Just let me know!
" Note" Anything we link are things we have used or would not be afraid to use. We are also not saying living a nontoxic lifestyle will keep you from health problems. I simply think that it can overall help with our health. That way when we get a health problem our bodies aren't full of toxic things.
